Norwegian Air Sweden has officially resumed nonstop service between Stockholm and Milan, restoring a link that had been suspended since March 2019. The relaunch not only adds another travel option between Sweden and northern Italy, but also marks a notable step in the carrier’s broader European network recovery.

The route returns at a time when blended demand for business travel, shopping, leisure breaks and visiting friends and relatives is rising sharply. Stockholm is a Nordic hub for innovation, technology and design, while Milan serves as Italy’s financial, fashion and commercial powerhouse. Re-establishing a direct air link significantly reduces journey times, enhances the appeal of the market for both corporate travelers and weekend leisure passengers, and adds competitive momentum on a route already served by Scandinavian Airlines.

During the initial phase, Norwegian is operating multiple weekly roundtrips and will quickly increase frequency during the early summer peak season. The route is served by Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, in line with the airline’s strategy of optimizing operating costs while maintaining efficiency on medium-haul intra-European sectors.

Stockholm stands out for its blend of nature, waterways and refined urban living. The historic Gamla Stan district, with its cobbled streets and centuries-old architecture, remains an essential stop for visitors, while the Stockholm archipelago offers a tranquil resort-style escape just beyond the city center. The Swedish capital also embodies modern Nordic living, where creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.

Milan is the gateway to the affluent Lombardy region and its deep cultural heritage. At the heart of the city, the Duomo creates a spectacular skyline, while Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper,” recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, stands out for its artistic significance and enduring global influence. From Milan, travelers can also easily reach Lake Como, Bergamo and the foothills of the Alps, where Italy reveals itself in a form that is both elegant and poetic.
